REPORTS TO: Director of Behavioral Health Care ServicesSince 1974, Asian Community Mental Health Services has been providing and advocating for multicultural and multilingual services for poor and working class immigrant families in the East Bay. Our aim is help community members achieve healthy and productive lives through programs including individual and family therapy, substance abuse treatment and prevention, services to the developmentally disabled, youth leadership development and community organizing. Our staff of over 100 offers services in 11 languages.
The Asian ACCESS program was launched in Oct 2006 and funded by Proposition 63 Mental Health Services Act Funding through Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services. It is a community-based, one-stop service center where we provide mental health information, referral resources, screening and brief treatment services in both Chinese and Vietnamese languages. Depending on staff resources, other Asian languages coverage are available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operation of the Asian ACCESS program office;
- Provide clinical supervision to clinical staff, interns and peer counselors;
- Monitor the requests for mental health services and assigning cases for further assessment and brief treatment;
- Conduct ACCESS intakes, screening, diagnostic assessment, referral and outreach, as needed;
- Maintain a caseload and handle more complex cases;
- Meet the monthly required client service contacts, maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency, county, state guidelines and quality assurance standards;
- coordinate and conduct program outreach, community presentation, in-service training; provide consultation to staff, system providers and community members;
- Conduct or participate in case conference, peer review and/or utilization review;
- conduct community needs assessment, data collection, and trend analysis; strategize and develop promotion materials, outreach initiatives, and stigma reduction initiative;
- collaborate with community providers, consumers, family members and stakeholders to develop and implement plans to increase community members’ access to mental health services, and reduce stigma of mental illness;
- Participate in committees and task forces within and outside of agency, as appropriate;
- Assist Director of Behavioral Health Care Services in establishing program goals and objectives; develop & implement clinical standards, quality care, treatment modalities and timetables; and
- Other duties as may be required by the Director of Behavioral Health Care Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid State of California license as a LCSW, MFT, or PsyD/PhD; two years post licensure preferred;
- Bilingual/bicultural in an Asian language such as Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Japanese, Korean, Mien or Tagalog.a plus;
- Minimum two years clinical experience working with Asian clients and knowledge of clinical issues with this population;
- Experience in supervisory responsibilities with a culturally diverse staff;
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Ability to work independently and to exercise professional discretion and judgment;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member, maintain professional working relationship with co-workers, clients, family members, community members and providers;
- Embrace recovery principles of working with the mentally ill and clients with co-occurring disorder;
- Valid California Driver’s license, auto insurance with bodily injury liability limit of at least $100,000/300,000 and access to use of an automobile;
- Support and implement the philosophy, goals and objectives of Asian Community Mental Health Services.
