SALARY: Competitive salary, plus benefits including family health coverage (medical, dental, vision); and 3 weeks vacation (pro-rated for part-time employee) to start
JOB CONTROL: Medical Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide recovery-oriented psychiatric assessments, medical evaluation, prescription and medication monitoring services to primarily adult clients who are severely and persistently mentally ill, with or without co-occurring disorders;
- Meets the monthly required client service contacts, maintains timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency, county, MediCal, MediCare guidelines and quality assurance standards;
- Use of on-site medications;
- Review and approve clinical treatment plans;
- Work with case managers, translators and other treatment providers in a team environment;
- Provide occasional clinical in-service training regarding psychopharmacology and other medically related topics;
- Participate in Utilization Review and Quality Assurance Committee, as needed;
- Participate in program planning;
- May assume supervisory responsibilities in absence of the Medical Director;
- Other duties as may be required by the Medical Director.
Qualifications:
- Board certified or eligible M.D. with completed psychiatric residency
- Current DEA status and active California medical license;
- Demonstrated ability and knowledge to treat severely mentally ill clients with or without co-occurring disorders;
- Embrace recovery principles of working with the mentally ill population;
- Experience and ability to work with interpreters;
- Bilingual in an Asian language preferred;
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
- Ability to work independently and to exercise professional discretion and judgment;
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse staff and client population;
- Valid California Driver’s license, auto insurance with bodily injury liability limit of at least $100,000/300,000 and access to use of an automobile;
- Support and implement the philosophy, goals and objectives of Asian Community Mental Health Services.
